93. Idiom – Down the drain Ex: His latest movie is interesting, but not groundbreaking

If work or money is or goes down the drain, it is spoiled or wasted

Ex: You might think that you are putting money down the drains, but you are not

Ex: I’m scared I’m going to be out of a job, and my 12 years of experience will be down the drain.

Ex: If the factory closes, that will be a million dollars worth of investment down the drain

Asking for Repetition

  • I’m afraid I didn’t understand that. Could you repeat what you just said?

Used to say firmly that you do not agree with something that has been said
